يلومُ في الغيث أقوامٌ مؤلّفةٌ

يلومُ في الغيث أقوامٌ مؤلّفةٌ

واللّومُ عنه لعمر اللهِ مردودُ

واللّومُ عنه لعمر اللهِ مردودُ

Groups of people gathered together find fault with al-Ghayth.

Some folk fault the rain unfairly,

But, by God's life, blame is turned away from it.

but for God's sake, fault is misplaced.

فإِنّه سُوق آدابٍ جُلِبْن بِهِ

فإِنّه سُوق آدابٍ جُلِبْن بِهِ

والسّوق هذا وهذا فيه موجودُ

والسّوق هذا وهذا فيه موجودُ

For it is a market of literary arts brought there,

It's a marketplace of graces gathered;

And in a market, this and that are found.
