ومُثقّل وافي مقامَ جماعةٍ

فيه السّقَاة تطوفُ بالكَاسَاتِ

And a tiresome fellow came to a gathering,

And burdened, fulfilling the abode of a group

where the cupbearers go around with cups.

Within it, the water-bearers circle with goblets

فَسمعتُ بعضَ القوم يدعو بَعضهم

فَسمعتُ بعضَ القوم يدعو بَعضهم

توبوا فهذا هَادمُ اللّذاتِ

توبوا فهذا هَادمُ اللّذاتِ

Then I heard some of the company calling to others:

So I heard some of the people inviting others

“Repent, for this is the destroyer of pleasures!”
