And a friend once recited to me

some of his verse that resembled poetry.

And he said, 'Have you seen its equal

among all the poems of humankind?'

I told him, 'May glory never lose you!

This, by my life, baffles thought.

This is poetry indeed, by my life—and how

worthy of praise it is, how deserving!

With its like, silver is drawn forth—

white silver—nay, yellow gold is drawn forth.

So sit upon the crowns of the Pleiades, for indeed

with it you have surpassed all humankind in glory.'
