أَسْرَفْتَ في اللَّوْمِ وَلمْ تَقْتَصِرْ

أَسْرَفْتَ في اللَّوْمِ وَلمْ تَقْتَصِرْ

وَزدْتَ في لَوْمِكَ يا ذا العَذُولْ

وَزدْتَ في لَوْمِكَ يا ذا العَذُولْ

You went too far in reproach and did not hold back.

You were excessive in blaming, and did not limit yourself,

And you added to your reproach, O you reproacher.

And in your blame, O neglectful one, you went too far.

قَدْ رَضِيَتْ نَفْسِي بِمَحْبُوبِها

قَدْ رَضِيَتْ نَفْسِي بِمَحْبُوبِها

وَإنّما المَوْلَى كثيرُ الفُضُولْ

وَإنّما المَوْلَى كثيرُ الفُضُولْ

My soul is indeed content with its beloved.

My soul is content with its beloved,

And the master is simply very meddlesome.

Though the protector is excessive in generosity.
