You threaten me with abandonment and distance—

You threaten me with estrangement and distance

When did we ever meet and come together?

When did we ever come together and unite

إِذَا أَنا لا أَراكَ وأَنْتَ جَارٌ

إِذَا أَنا لا أَراكَ وأَنْتَ جَارٌ

فَسيَّانَ التَّرحُّلُ وَالمقامُ

فَسيَّانَ التَّرحُّلُ وَالمقامُ

If I do not see you though you are my neighbor,

If I cannot see you yet you are my neighbor

Then leaving and staying are the same.

Then residing or leaving would be the same
