للَّهِ كِفْتيٌّ أَطاعَ صَبَابَتي

للَّهِ كِفْتيٌّ أَطاعَ صَبَابَتي

فيه الفُؤادُ وَخَالَف اللُّوّاما

فيه الفُؤادُ وَخَالَف اللُّوّاما

What a wondrous metal inlayer! My heart obeyed my passion

My sufficiency is with Allah, who obeyed my youth

for him and defied the reproachers.

In it lies the heart, though blamers disapprove

مَدَّ الشّريطَ على الحَديدِ فَخِلْتُهُ

مَدَّ الشّريطَ على الحَديدِ فَخِلْتُهُ

قَمراً يُطرِّزُ بِالبُروقِ غَمامَا

قَمراً يُطرِّزُ بِالبُروقِ غَمامَا

He stretched the strip over the iron, so I imagined him

I extended the belt over iron, so I left it
