The doves of the grove never lament among the branches
The dove does not moan in the branches,
without my sorrows for you growing deeper.
Except my longing for you increases,
عُودواreturn لِمُعَنّىًto a tormented one هَجْركُمْyour abandonment أَسْقَمَهُmade him ill

Return to a tormented soul whom your abandonment has made ill;
Return, for your abandonment has made me ill,
for the lover is worn out by you, sorrowful, and captive.
For separation from you makes me suffer, miserable and distressed.
