Sober of heart is he; because of him, I am not sober.

He has plundered bodies and set his sights on souls.

O full moon, al-ʿazām [unclear as written] has blocked my paths.

So light, with your face, my roaming ground and my resting place.

I am bewildered over you: through whom shall I seek intercession,

So that my aims may achieve success?

By my yearning heart, or by my sleeplessness—the

Tell-tale one—or by my radiant love?

Then by your wafting fragrance, or else by your gaze—the

    Blood-shedding one—or else by your spear-thrusting figure:

Do not sleep, heedless of one awake through a night—

Since your face vanished, he has known no dawn.
