يَاO مَنْyou who أَمْرُcommand الغَرامِpassionate love وَالقَلْبُand the heart لَهُto him
يَا مَنْ أَمْرُ الغَرامِ وَالقَلْبُ لَهُ
قَدْindeed أَسْقَمَhas sickened جِسْمِيmy body فِيin هَواهُlove for him وَلَهُanguished yearning
قَدْ أَسْقَمَ جِسْمِي فِي هَواهُ وَلَهُ
O you to whom love’s command and the heart belong!
O you whose love and heart are all to me,
Yearning has made my body ill with love for him.
My body's wasted by desire for you, for thee,
كَمْhow often يَعْذِلنيreproaches me اللَّائِمُthe reproacher فيهِover him سَفَهَاًfoolishly
كَمْ يَعْذِلني اللَّائِمُ فيهِ سَفَهَاً
اللّائِمُthe reproacher فيover هَواكَlove for you ماwhat لِيto me وَلَهُand to him
اللّائِمُ في هَواكَ ما لِي وَلَهُ
How often the reproacher foolishly chides me over him!
How much the blamer chides me foolishly,
The reproacher of my love for you—what have I to do with him?
What care I for the blamer's blame of love for thee?
