O deadliest of people in glances, and sweetest of them

in saliva—when did bitter sap and honey meet in you?

On the expanse of your cheek, while the sun is rising,

are roses whose blush wine and bashfulness deepen.

Faith in loving you is renewed within my heart

by scriptures from your cheek, or messengers from your glance.

If you deny that I am a slave to your dominion,

command me to do whatever you wish; I shall do it and obey.

Were you to look into my heart, you would find there

a wound wrought by your eyes that does not heal.
