في الرَّاحِ والزَّهْرِ قَدْ رَأَيْنا

في الرَّاحِ والزَّهْرِ قَدْ رَأَيْنا

مَعنىً لَدَيْهِ العُقُولُ تُدهَشُ

مَعنىً لَدَيْهِ العُقُولُ تُدهَشُ

In wine and flowers we have seen

In the breeze and flowers we saw

A meaning before which minds are bewildered:

A meaning that astounds the mind

فَساقُ كأسِي غدا خَضِيباً

فَساقُ كأسِي غدا خَضِيباً

وَمِعْصَمُ الدَّوْحِ قَدْ تَنقَّشْ

وَمِعْصَمُ الدَّوْحِ قَدْ تَنقَّشْ

For the stem of my cup has become dyed,

So my cup’s stalk turned green

And the wrist of the great trees has become patterned.

And the bracelet’s clay was engraved
