لَمْ أَنْسَهُ لَمَّا أَتَى مُقْبِلاً

لَمْ أَنْسَهُ لَمَّا أَتَى مُقْبِلاً

أَوْلانِيَ الوَصْلَ وَمَا أَلْوَى

أَوْلانِيَ الوَصْلَ وَمَا أَلْوَى

I have not forgotten him as he came toward me;

I did not forget him when he came to me

He granted me union and did not turn away.

He granted me union though not for long

وَقعْتُ بِالرَّشْفِ على ثَغْرِهِ

وَقعْتُ بِالرَّشْفِ على ثَغْرِهِ

وَقْعَ المَساطِيلِ على الحَلْوَى

وَقْعَ المَساطِيلِ على الحَلْوَى

I fell upon his lips, sipping kisses,

I fell on his mouth with kisses

As stoners fall upon sweets.

As pearls fall on sweets
