Nothing remains—alas for you!—but to face it;
There remaineth not, alas for you! aught else but to meet it,
and the kindler of war shall face it and come to it.
And the fierce flames of war coming fast to greet it.

Do not count hereafter on your kin of Mudar;
Hope not, after this, the people of Mudar will spare you,
after this, entrust it to its masters.
From henceforth leave it them, and leave its allies.

So whoever among you survives this battle shall have
Whoso then of you remains in life, to him shall be
glory throughout life, however long its nights may last.
The foulness of life, how long soever the nights thereof.

And whoso is slain, dies guiltless, and 'twill be his due
fair praise that endures when he lies there.
To have goodly praise made, what time they talk of it.
إِنif تَترُكواyou abandon وائِلاًWa'il لِلحَربِto war ياO مُضَرٌMudar

If you abandon Wa'il to war, O Mudar,
If now ye leave to war a pasture, O men of Mudar,
then what befell them will befall you.
Then war shall meet with you, even as erst ye did meet it.
ياO أَيُّهاyou الراكِبُthe rider المُجتازُpassing through تَرفُلُyou stride proudly فيthrough

O passing rider, striding proudly through
O thou that ridest a swift beast, winding thy way at thine ease through the land,
the land's rugged terrain, and at times through its deserts,
Now sorrowing for the land, and now through its desert parts,

tell the sons of Persia, on our behalf, when you reach them,
Give thou news of us to the house of the Persians, when the morrow thou shalt come to them,
and the clan of Kahlan, that the army will sweep them away.
On the day when thou comest in sight of Kehlaan's tribesmen.

My people must ascend, though they have struggled
Natheless, needs must my people mount up on high, though hard be
up steep ascents, whose heights resist them.
The rugged steep whereon they climb, spite of its ruggedness.
أَمّاas for إِيادٌIyad فَقَدthen indeed جاءَتhas come بِهاwith it بِدَعاًunheard-of deeds
فيin ماwhat جَنىperpetrated البَعضُsome إِذماwhile البَعضُothers راضيهاapproving of it
As for Iyad, they have done unheard-of things in this,
But the tribe of Eeyaad-they have made it smooth by gifts bestowed
in what some have perpetrated while others approve it.
On a part of them, whilst as for the rest they have smoothed them.
