قالَت أَشَدتَ بِكُلِّ ما أَخفَيتَهُ

قالَت أَشَدتَ بِكُلِّ ما أَخفَيتَهُ

وَالصَبُّ في حُكمِ الصَبابَةِ جاحِدِ

وَالصَبُّ في حُكمِ الصَبابَةِ جاحِدِ

She said, “You have proclaimed all that you concealed,

You've held on to all that you've kept hidden

though the lovesick lover, by passion’s law, denies it.”

And youth in its judgement is unforgiving

فَلَأَسكُتَنَّ فَلا أَبوحُ بِسِرِّكُم

فَلَأَسكُتَنَّ فَلا أَبوحُ بِسِرِّكُم

حَتّى كَأَنّي في سُكوتي صاعِدُ

حَتّى كَأَنّي في سُكوتي صاعِدُ

So I shall surely be silent and not divulge your secret,

So I will keep silent and not reveal your secrets

until, in my silence, I seem to be Ṣāʿid.

As if in my silence I am ascending
