My eye is kept sleepless because the delight of my eye

has been parted from me by the intervening nights.

If Time decrees a meeting for us,

then that is my verdict against Time and the debt it owes me.

Nothing following another thing brings such joy

as a swift reunion after separation.

She shook hands in farewell, thus showing us

gold from her dye amid silver.

The truest of men is he who proclaims these words:

“Indeed, the Imam’s Sword is the bearer of the two swords.”

The eye rests upon the most radiant face

that shines before us, and the most generous pair of hands.

His forefathers led the noble steeds as kings,

before steeds were led by Dhu Ruʿayn.
