If your gifts are slips of paper,
If your prayers are but scraps of paper
Signed with fingertips and palms,
Signed with names and palms,
وَلَمand did not تَكُنِbe الرِقاعُthe slips of paper تَجُرُّbring نَفعاًbenefit

And the slips of paper bring no benefit,
And if these scraps bring no benefit,
Then here is my handwriting—take it for a million.
Then here is my line, take it for a thousand thousand
