أَرىI see اللَهَGod خَصَّdistinguished بَنيthe sons of مَخلَدٍMakhlad
أَرى اللَهَ خَصَّ بَني مَخلَدٍ
بِأَفضَلِwith the finest مَأثُرَةٍglorious achievement لِلعَرَبfor the Arabs
بِأَفضَلِ مَأثُرَةٍ لِلعَرَب
I see that God has distinguished the sons of Makhlad
With the noblest achievement among the Arabs.
تُضافُis hosted الخِلافَةُthe caliphate فيin دورِهِمtheir homes
تُضافُ الخِلافَةُ في دورِهِم
فَتُخبِرُso it tells عَنof سِروِهِمtheir nobility بِالعَجَبwith wonder
فَتُخبِرُ عَن سِروِهِم بِالعَجَب
The caliphate is hosted in their homes,
And speaks with wonder of their nobility.
مُلوكٌkings لَهُمthey have عادَةٌa custom فيin القِرىhospitality
مُلوكٌ لَهُم عادَةٌ في القِرى
تَوارَثَهاinherited it successively حَسَبٌnoble lineage عَنfrom حَسَبnoble lineage
تَوارَثَها حَسَبٌ عَن حَسَب
Kings, with a tradition of hospitality,
Passed down from noble lineage to noble lineage.
تَرىyou see الكَأسَthe cup صافِيَةًclear كَاللُجَيـlike silver (continued)
تَرى الكَأسَ صافِيَةً كَاللُجَيـ
ــنِcompletion of 'silver' وَالخَمرَand the wine طافِيَةًfloating كَالذَهَبlike gold
ــنِ وَالخَمرَ طافِيَةً كَالذَهَب
You see the cup clear as sil-
ver, and the wine floating like gold.
