And a slender bough, as though a waft of musk

upon a blossom standing among pools.

Gardens of basil sway with him,

    fluttering over green brocades.

He grew so delicate, he seemed like white silver

when clothed in a mantle of gold.

He was fashioned from the purest clear water, and yet

from water given bodily form, which does not flow.

Minds could not describe him, and so he became

a captive of fancy, turning in every mind.

My father be his ransom—when I look upon him,

my life grows sweet, and my thoughts and remembrance bring delight.

And his cheeks donned freshly plucked roses,

and his body donned gauzy robes of wine,

in bashfulness that clothes him in safflower's red,

from fear of me and obedience to my command.
