وولد الحبيب فمرحبا بوفائه — Albaonih

وولد الحَبيب فَمَرحَباً بِوَفائِهِ

وَبِحُسن طَلعَتِهِ وَنُور بِهائِهِ

And the beloved was born—welcome his faithfulness,

and the beauty of his countenance and the light of his splendor.

وَتشعشَع النُّور الَّذي سَجَدت لَهُ

في وَجه آدم أَهل أُفق سَمائِهِ

And the light shone forth, before which had prostrated,

in Adam's face, the dwellers of his heaven's horizon.

وَبَدا جَمالٌ بِالجَلال ممنطقٌ

وَمُتَوجٌ بِكَمالِهِ وَعَلائِهِ

And beauty appeared, girded with majesty,

and crowned with his perfection and exalted rank.

وَأَتى خِتام المُرسَلين وَخَير مَن

وَطئَ الثَّرى وَمَلا الوُجود بِآيهِ

And the last of the messengers came, the best of those

who trod the earth, and he filled existence with his signs.

مُتكملاً في ذاتِهِ وَصِفاتِهِ

مُتحَققاً في جَمعِهِ بِوَلائِهِ

perfect in his essence and attributes,

fully realized in his union through his devotion.

ولد الَّذي لَولاه ما ذكر الحمى

كَلا وَلا زاروا حمى بولايهِ

Born is he without whom the sanctuary would not be mentioned—

no, nor would they visit a sanctuary under his patronage.

ولد الَّذي لَولاه ما اِرتاحوا إِلى

مخضرِّ عَيش في رُبا صفرائِهِ

Born is he without whom they would not delight in

verdant life in the uplands of his Ṣafrāʾ.

ولد الَّذي لَولاه ما بَلَغ المُنى

قَلب وَفازَ بِكَشف غَيم غِطائِهِ

Born is he without whom wishes would not be attained

by a heart, nor would it triumph by dispelling the cloud of its veil.

ولد الَّذي لَولاه ما بانَ الهدى

وَهُدى المُحب لمحوه وَفنائهِ

Born is he without whom guidance would not appear,

nor would the lover be led to his effacement and annihilation.

ولد الَّذي لَولا جَلالة قَدره

لَم تحشر الأَعيان تَحتَ لِوائِهِ

Born is he, but for whose majestic rank

beings would not be gathered beneath his banner.

ولد الَّذي لَولا مَراحم عطفِهِ

ما ذاقَ قَلبي الريَّ بَعدَ ظمائِهِ

Born is he, but for whose tender mercies

my heart would not drink its fill after its thirst.

ولد الَّذي لَولاه ما زالَ العَنا

عَنهُ بِرُوح هَب مِن تِلقائِهِ

Born is he without whom suffering would not depart

from it, through a breath of spirit blowing from his direction.

ولد الَّذي نعم الفُؤاد بِحُبِهِ

وَغَدا بِهِ مُستَشفياً مِن دائِهِ

Born is he in whose love the heart found bliss,

and through him came to seek healing for its sickness.

ولد الَّذي صَلَّى عَلَيهِ إِلَهه

وَأَثابَ من صَلى بِجُود عَطائِهِ

Born is he upon whom his God bestowed blessings,

and rewarded those who invoked blessings with His generous bounty.

ولد الَّذي رَفع المُهيمن ذكره

وَأَمده سَبعين مِن أَسمائِهِ

Born is he whose mention the Guardian exalted,

and endowed him with seventy of His names.

وَسَما وَنبئ وَالوُجود مكتّمٌ

في طَيِّ غَيب في خفيِّ خَفائِهِ

And he rose exalted and was made a prophet while existence lay concealed,

folded within the unseen, in its hiddenmost concealment.

وَبَرا الوُجود لِأَجله وَاِختَصَه

بِكَرائم التَّخصيص في إسرائِهِ

And He created existence for his sake and singled him out

with noble distinctions in his Night Journey.

وَجَلا علاه حِينَ أَمّ الأَنبيا

وَأَقام جبرائيل مِن وزرائِهِ

And He revealed his exalted rank when he led the prophets,

and appointed Gabriel among his ministers.

وَأَقامه في قابِهِ مُستَجلياً

آي التَّجلي في سَما أَدنائِهِ

And He stationed him within His bow-span, beholding

the signs of manifestation in the heaven of his being drawn near.

أَهلا بِمَولده الَّذي شَمل الهَنا

بِوروده وَوَفى الوَفا بِوَفائِهِ

Welcome his birth: joy spread everywhere

with its advent, and faithfulness became complete through his faithfulness.

وَتَتابَعَت منن وَحل بِيمنه

أنس مَلا الأَكوان مِن سرّائِهِ

And favors followed one another, and through his blessing there came

a gladness that filled the worlds with his delight.

ما الشَّمس إِلّا لَمعة مِن نُوره

وَالبَدر إِلّا مِن شعاع سنائِهِ

The sun is but a gleam of his light,

and the full moon but a ray of his radiance.

وَالوَرد إِلا دُون رَونَق خَدِهِ

وَالمسك إِلّا مِن عَبيق ثنائِهِ

And the rose falls short of the luster of his cheek,

and musk comes only from the fragrance of his praise.

وَالبَرق إِلا عَن فُؤاد ثَغرِهِ

يملي وَيسند عَن سَنا لألائِهِ

And lightning, from the heart of his mouth alone,

dictates and cites the radiance of his glittering as its authority.

بُشرى لِعَين بِالجَمال تَمَتَعَت

مِن وَجهِهِ وَتَنَعَمَت بِلِقائِهِ

Glad tidings to an eye that enjoyed the beauty

of his face and delighted in meeting him,

ولأنفس سلكت سواء سبيلهِ

وتضلعت من فيضه وصفائِهِ

and to souls that trod the straight course of his path,

and drank their fill of his outpouring and purity.

ما بَعد ذَلِكَ مَطلب لِمحقق

مِنهُ اِستَمَد فَكانَ مِن خلفائِهِ

Beyond that there is no goal for a realized seeker

who drew sustenance from him and became one of his successors.

يا أَكرَم الشفعاء جارية لَها

قَلب يقلب في لَظى برحائِهِ

O most generous of intercessors, a handmaid has

a heart tossed in the blaze of its fierce anguish.

وَلَه رَجاء في جَميلك يا هُدى

أَمَلي فَجد كَرَماً لَهُ بِرَجائِهِ

It has hope in your kindness, O guidance of

my hope; graciously grant it what it hopes for.

وَأدم لَه الإمداد يا خَير الوَرى

أَبَداً وَدارك داءه بِدَوائِهِ

And sustain your aid to it, O best of creation,

forever, and remedy its sickness with its cure.

وَاِشفَع إِلى المَولى بِتَبليغ المنى

مِن جُودِهِ الوافي وَجم عَطائِهِ

And intercede with the Lord for the fulfillment of wishes

from His abundant generosity and plentiful bounty,

وَبِنَظم نجلي في خَواص عَبيده

وَبِنَظم نَفسي في خَواص إِمائِهِ

and for enrolling my son among His chosen servants,

and enrolling me among His chosen handmaids.

صَلَّى عَلَيك اللَّهُ يا عَلَم الهُدى

وَأَجلَ مَحبوبٍ إِلى فقرائِهِ

May God bless you, O beacon of guidance,

and most exalted beloved of His needy ones,

ما حَنَّ مُشتاق لِوَصلتك الَّتي

فيها بَقاء الصَبِّ بَعدَ فَنائِهِ

as long as a yearning lover longs for union with you,

in which the ardent lover subsists after his annihilation,

أَبَداً وَما جادَ الإِلَه بِرَحمة

لِفَتى بِما يَرجوه مِن نَعمائِهِ

forever, and as long as God bestows mercy

upon a youth, granting what he hopes for of His blessings.
