ياO مُسقِميyou who sicken me بِجُفونِwith eyelids سَقمهاtheir languor سَبَبa cause
إِلىof مُواصَلَةِthe continuance of الأَسقامِailments فيin جَسَديmy body
O you who sicken me with eyelids whose languor is a cause
O my sickly one, with eyelids whose illness
of continuing ailments in my body.
Has caused more sickness to spread through my body,
وَحَقّand by the sanctity of جَفنَيكَyour two eyelids لاmay not اِستَعفَيتَyou seek release مِنfrom كَمِديmy anguish
دَهريthroughout my life وَلَوand even if مُتُّI die مِنof هَمٍّworry وَمِنand of كَمَدِgrief
And by your two eyelids, may you never seek release from my anguish
By your eyelids’ right, if only you could be excused from my suffering -
throughout my life, even if I die of worry and grief.
Even if I were to die of grief and suppression -
عَذَرتُI forgave مِنwhoever ظَلَّkept فيin حَبيِكَloving you يِحسدنيenvying me
لِأَنَّهُbecause he فيكَconcerning you مَعذورٌis excused عَلىfor حَسَديenvying me
I forgave whoever kept envying me for loving you,
I would pardon the shadow of envy in your love for me
because, where you are concerned, he is excused for envying me.
For in you, envy of me is pardonable.
