ما غاب من أطرافه محدودا

An army that outstrips the eye, so that one cannot see

An army marching endlessly so none may see

any limit to its far reaches lost from sight.

How few they are though boundless they may seem

ويجيش حتى لا يظن عديده

أحد لكثرة جمعه معدودا

أحد لكثرة جمعه معدودا

And it surges, so that its numbers are not deemed

Marching on so none may guess their count

countable by anyone, so vast is its assembled host.

However numerous, still limited deemed

So it is as though God made the heights of the

As though the Lord their guide bade banners be

mountains into banners and standards for it.

Standards for them, agents of His esteem

يقضي على الأعداء خيفة بأسه

يقضي على الأعداء خيفة بأسه

قبل اللقاء تهدداً ووعيدا

قبل اللقاء تهدداً ووعيدا

Fear of its might brings doom upon the enemies,

To strike their foes with dread before the fray

before the encounter, with menace and threats.

With menace and with warning to redeem

وترى وتسمع لمعه وخفوقه

وترى وتسمع لمعه وخفوقه

فتخال فيه بوارقاً وروعودا

فتخال فيه بوارقاً وروعودا

And you see its glitter and hear its flutter,

You see the glint and hear the martial blare

so you imagine lightning flashes and thunder within it.

And imagine lightning, rumbling, thunder's boom
