So ask our host about us and about them,

On the morning at al-Sayl, with long spears.

Did we not leave their chieftains thirsting,

Crouched beneath the edges of trailing robes?

Widows lament them with mourning cloths

In the enclosed plains of al-Ṣafāʾiḥ and al-Naṣīl.

And our champions of war had passed

By the waters of al-Dafīnah and al-Ḥajīl.
