Until the sun returns, the full moon does not set,

When its ten nights, together with four more, are complete.

So stand in for your father throughout his absence,

For you are a full moon whose sun is that eminent lord.

And remain his deputy before the people's eyes,

And tell the veil of the west: 'Your appointed time is the Resurrection.'

    ففي السُّحبِ ما يُسقَى بأمطارِه البَحر

    And lavish your palms' dew, directing it toward his resting place;

For among the clouds is one whose rains water the sea.

He is the sea, save that the shells of his bounty

Are his schools, and the illustrious among their people are the pearls.

And this servant is his pearl among them, except that he

Has a mind within which lie many pearls.

    إذَنْ فهي النُّعمَى لكم وهي الشُّكر

    Through you he gained them long ago, and in your praise he fashions them;

Thus they are your bounty, and they are thanks to you.

Marvels: the meaning is no matron debased

By anyone else, nor is the wording fashioned for it a virgin.

So, O noble one, whose courtyard's bounds are a sanctuary,

And O generous giver, whose palm's rains are abundant,

And O king, whose aspiration has the heights for banners,

And O king, whose reign's days are radiant,

May you be gladdened, and all creation too,

By renewed glad tidings that brighten faces.

From now on, glory has settled in its abode,

And wayfaring aspirations have laid down their staff beside him.

And the days have relented after their refusal,

And their haughtily twisted necks have yielded to fairness.

And through justice the lands greet the morning, now calm,

And through safety the people greet the evening, now at rest.
