نَصْري فحِزْبُ اللهِ لي حِزب
When you sharpen your resolve, taking up anew
And if you sharpen resolute intention
my defense, God's party is my party.
My victory, for God's party is my party

تَمّتْ لديك مَطالبي الجُرب
When will it be granted me to say, once
So when can I say, since
you have fulfilled my mangy petitions:
My requests from you are fulfilled, enough!

How many nights I spent sleepless and restless!
How many nights I remained sleepless and anxious
But now eyelid and side alike are at rest.
But now the eyelid and the side are still

فالدّهرُ دَهرٌ كُلُّه لعب
Give me earnest help from you, that I may live by it,
Preoccupy me with seriousness from you that revives me
for the age is an age all made of play.
For time is an era whose entirety is play

As for poetry, it preoccupies me from it
an age whose breast conceals deceit.
An era whose chest hides cunning

Today I marvel that I compose it,
Today its prosody amazes me
though I have long lived with pride in it.
And I have lived long but it still amazes me

A composed poem is a net for a generous man,
The nets of the generous ensnare an ode composed
and a wondrous verse within it is the grain used as bait.
With the wonderful beauty of its verse love

So listen, and bestow such favors
So roar with the first of skills what
whose beginnings and aftermath are pleasing.
Beginnings approve of and endings cultivate

لك شاكرانِ العَبْدُ والرَّبّ
Generosity is a single deed, and for it
For generosity is a single deed by which
you have two who thank you: the servant and the Lord.
Both your thankful servant and Lord are grateful
