لَيالي أَجمَلَت فيهِنَّ جُملٌ

لَيالي أَجمَلَت فيهِنَّ جُملٌ

إِلَيَّ وَأَسعَدَت فيها سُعادُ

إِلَيَّ وَأَسعَدَت فيها سُعادُ

Nights in which Juml was gracious

Nights in which beautiful moments were made perfect for me,

To me, and Su'ad brought me happiness in them.

And in them I was blessed with good fortune,

فَبِتُّ أَقولُ مِن طَرَبٍ إِلَيها

فَبِتُّ أَقولُ مِن طَرَبٍ إِلَيها

أَلا يا عَهدُ جادَتكَ العِهادُ

أَلا يا عَهدُ جادَتكَ العِهادُ

So I spent the night, in rapture, saying to them:

So I spend the night saying to them in rapture:

Ah, O time, may the returning rains shower you!

“Will not your bountiful epoch return?”

لَقَد أَطرَبَتنا وَمَضَيتَ عَنّا

لَقَد أَطرَبَتنا وَمَضَيتَ عَنّا

فَلَيتَكَ كُنتَ صَوتاً يُستَعادُ

فَلَيتَكَ كُنتَ صَوتاً يُستَعادُ

Indeed, you delighted us and departed from us;

You did entrance us, then left us;

So, if only you were a sound that could be repeated!

Would that you were a voice that could be recalled!
