الخُؤْرُ والجَورُ خُوزِستانُ أَصلهما

الخُؤْرُ والجَورُ خُوزِستانُ أَصلهما

والخَوزُ تَصحيفتاهُ الجَور والخَورُ

والخَوزُ تَصحيفتاهُ الجَور والخَورُ

Cowardice and injustice have their source in Khuzestan;

and “Khuz” has two mispointed readings: “injustice” and “cowardice.”

فأعجَزُ النّاسِ أهلوها إذا ظُلموا

فأعجَزُ النّاسِ أهلوها إذا ظُلموا

وأَظلمُ النّاسِ أهلوها إذا قَدَروا

وأَظلمُ النّاسِ أهلوها إذا قَدَروا

Thus its people are the most helpless of all when wronged,

and the most unjust of all when they have power.
