وهذا وقد كلَّ المَطِيُّ زرودُ
Ask, you two, the driver of the worn-out camels where he means to go.
Where are you leading, O guide of the saddlebags,
And here is Zarud, with the mounts already weary.
Now that the mounted one has journeyed far?

Verdant meadows, like the brocade of cheeks,
Gardens like the cheeks of maidens in bloom,
And cool water, like sweet-flowing saliva.
Waters like cascades of pearls that sparkle and cool.

So turn toward them with the mounts, for ahead of us
Turn your mounts that way, away from us,
Lie lowlands whose expanse must be crossed, and highlands.
So we may fold up the width of the meadows and leave.

And in that valley of carnelians is a gazelle
The gazelles of the plain are hunted, while she hunts.
Who hunts the wild goats even as they graze and hunt.
