إِلام يصدّني عَنكَ الحِجابُ
وَيَعذبand grows sweet فيin هَواكlove for you ليَto me العَذابtorment
وَيَعذب في هَواك ليَ العَذاب
How long will the veil keep me from you,
What screens me from you is the veil
While torment grows sweet to me in loving you,
And tortures me for love of you, the torment
وَتَرويand drinks its fill الكاسthe cup مِنfrom شَفَتيكyour lips لَثماًin kisses
وَتَروي الكاس مِن شَفَتيك لَثماً
وَيَجنيand plucks وَردthe roses of خَديكyour cheeks النقابthe veil
وَيَجني وَرد خَديك النقاب
And the cup drinks its fill of kisses from your lips,
And you wet the cup with your lips, a kiss
And the veil plucks the roses of your cheeks?
And the veil harvests the rose of your cheek
