عَطاءُ أُولي المَكارم كانَ فَتحاً

لِأَبواب المَدائح وَالنَشيد

لِأَبواب المَدائح وَالنَشيد

The bounty of the noble opened

The generosity of the noble ones was an opening

the gates of praise and song.

For the gates of praise and song

وَكَم في الناس مثل أَبي نَواس

وَكَم في الناس مثل أَبي نَواس

وَلَكن لَيسَ فيهُم مِن رَشيد

وَلَكن لَيسَ فيهُم مِن رَشيد

And how many among the people are like Abu Nuwas,

And how many among the people are like Abu Nuwas

but among them there is no Rashid.

Yet among them there is no Rashid
