جاءَcame الرَبيعspring بِأزرَقwith blue مِنof سُنبلhyacinths
جاءَ الرَبيع بِأزرَق مِن سُنبل
مِنfrom قَبلbefore أَنthat يَأتيit comes بِأَحمَرwith the red of وَردهِits roses
مِن قَبل أَن يَأتي بِأَحمَر وَردهِ
Spring has come with the blue of hyacinths,
Before coming with the red of its roses;
فَكَأَنَّهُso, as though it were روسtips الأَسنةthe spearheads شَرَعتwere leveled
فَكَأَنَّهُ روس الأَسنة شَرَعت
لِقِتالfor fighting أَيامthe days of الشِتاءِwinter وَبَردِهِand its cold
لِقِتال أَيام الشِتاءِ وَبَردِهِ
As though it were spear-tips, leveled
To fight the days of winter and its cold.
