يا مظهر النسك وَالأَنام بِهِ

يا مظهر النسك وَالأَنام بِهِ

تَهتكوا لا عَدمت لُقياكا

O you who display piety, while people, because of you,

O embodiment of piety and faith

Have cast off restraint—may I never be deprived of meeting you!

They assail you, would that I had not met you

إِن كانَ شُرب المدام تُنكرهُ

إِن كانَ شُرب المدام تُنكرهُ

فلم سَقَتهُ العُقول عَيناكا

فلم سَقَتهُ العُقول عَيناكا

If you disapprove of drinking wine,

If you disapprove of drinking wine

Then why have your eyes given it to minds to drink?

Why did you give minds wine in your eyes
