سحب النَوى طول المَدى يَتحجب

سحب النَوى طول المَدى يَتحجب

O Lord, my full moon has vanished from my sight, and in

O Lord, the full moon has vanished from my sight,

the clouds of separation he remains veiled for so long.

And in the clouds of sorrow, it remains obscured.

يا رَب أَنساني بِدَمعي غارِقٌ

يا رَب أَنساني بِدَمعي غارِقٌ

وَالقَلب في نار الجَوى يَتلهب

وَالقَلب في نار الجَوى يَتلهب

O Lord, my eye's pupil is drowning in my tears,

O Lord, my tears immerse me in their flood,

And the heart blazes in the fire of anguish.

As my heart burns in the fire of longing.

يا رَب إِني عَن فُؤادي راحل

يا رَب إِني عَن فُؤادي راحل

وَالجسم ثاوٍ بِالضَنا يَتَقَلب

وَالجسم ثاوٍ بِالضَنا يَتَقَلب

O Lord, I am departing from my heart,

O Lord, I am departing from my soul,

And my body stays behind, tossing in wasting sickness.

While my body tosses and turns in agony.

يا رَب ضَيف الطَيف زارَ وَلَم يَعُد

يا رَب ضَيف الطَيف زارَ وَلَم يَعُد

فَمَتى إِلى دار المُتَيم يقرب

فَمَتى إِلى دار المُتَيم يقرب

O Lord, the phantom guest visited and has not returned;

O Lord, the phantom came to visit but did not stay,

So when will he draw near to the home of the love-stricken one?

So when will he come near the home of the bereft?

يا رَب فَاِجمَع شَملَنا مُتَفَضِلاً

يا رَب فَاِجمَع شَملَنا مُتَفَضِلاً

فَلمنَك لا مِن فَضل غَيرِكَ أَطلُبُ

فَلمنَك لا مِن فَضل غَيرِكَ أَطلُبُ

O Lord, graciously reunite us,

O Lord, be merciful and unite us,

For I seek Your bounty, not the favor of anyone else.

For it is only your grace that I seek, and none else.
