طالَ سَقمي وَمَلَني العواد

طالَ سَقمي وَمَلَني العواد

وَبَكتني الأَنداد وَالحُساد

My illness has lasted long, and my visitors have grown weary of me.

Long has my illness been, and tired am I of remedies,

And my rivals and enviers have wept for me.

While my peers and foes weep for me.

وَكانَ الصَباح في اللَيل كنز

وَكانَ الصَباح في اللَيل كنز

وَعَلَيهِ نُجومهُ أَرصاد

وَعَلَيهِ نُجومهُ أَرصاد

And dawn was a treasure in the night,

Morning in the night was like buried gold,

And the night's stars were sentinels over it.

With stars keeping watch over it like sentinels.
