Indeed, ʿArbīl is the most delightful of lands,
Arabia is the sweetest of lands
An abode of pleasure, love, and felicitations.
Abode of joy, passion and felicity

Wafts of carnation and sweet basil.
Scents of cloves and fragrant basil

أَعشب الرَوض مِنهُ بِالعقيان
How many a stream flows there like silver,
How many brooks gently flow therein
From which the garden grew lush with pure gold.
Meadows grass-filled to the brim

Days of companionship I've spent therein
As bright marks upon the brows of time,
Like gems in necklaces of time

And reclining on couches of bliss,
Leaning on your views brought me bliss
Beneath the twin shades of ease and safety.
Under your shade, prosperity and peace
