وَيَقيهما شرّ الرَقيب الحاسد
Every man’s heart would ransom the two brothers,
One person's heart ransoms them both, two brothers,
and shield them both from the malice of the watchful envier.
And shields them from the harm of the envious watcher.

Two boughs that have sprung up in a garden of beauty,
Two branches have grown in a garden of beauty,
as though they had been watered with the selfsame water.
As though both were watered with the same water.

Never did I complain of a wasting attachment to one brother
Never did I go to complain of one brother's gift of lovesickness,
but that his brother came to visit me in my illness from it.
Without his brother coming to visit me because of it.
