وَمِن عَجيب الأُمور عِندي

إِظهار ما تُضمر القُلوب

إِظهار ما تُضمر القُلوب

And among the things I find wondrous

Among the strange things to me

is the revealing of what hearts conceal.

Is the revealing of what hearts conceal

تَأبى نُفوسٌ نُفوس قَوم

تَأبى نُفوسٌ نُفوس قَوم

وَما لَها عِندَها ذُنوب

وَما لَها عِندَها ذُنوب

Some souls reject the souls of certain people,

Some souls spurn other souls

though these have done no wrong in their eyes.

Though they have no fault with them

وَتَصطَفي أَنفُسٌ نُفوساً

وَتَصطَفي أَنفُسٌ نُفوساً

وَكُلَها لَو تَرى عُيوب

وَكُلَها لَو تَرى عُيوب

And some souls favor other souls,

And souls befriend other souls

yet all of them, if you look, are full of flaws.

Yet all, if you could but see, have flaws

ما ذاكَ إِلّا لِمضمرات

ما ذاكَ إِلّا لِمضمرات

يَعلَمها العالمُ الرَقيب

يَعلَمها العالمُ الرَقيب

That is only because of things concealed,

This is only due to hidden thoughts

known to the Knower, the Watchful.

Known to the Watchful, All-Knowing
