يَقُولونَthey say لَوif ماتَتshe died لَقَدsurely غاضَebbed حُبُّهُhis love
وَذَلِكَand that حينthe time of الفاجِعاتِcalamities وَحِينيand my final hour
They say, “If she died, his love would surely ebb.”
Yet that would be the hour of calamities—and my final hour.
لَعَمرُكَby your life إِنّيindeed I إِنif تُحَمَّis decreed وَفاتُهاher death
بِصُحبَةِwith the company of مَنwhoever يَبقَىremains لغَيرcertainly not ضَنينِloath to part
By your life, if her death is decreed, I
shall surely not cling to the company of those who remain.
