لا شَكَّ أَنَّ الَّذي بي سَوفَ يَقتُلُني

لا شَكَّ أَنَّ الَّذي بي سَوفَ يَقتُلُني

إِن كانَ أَهلَكَ حُبٌّ قَبلَهُ أحَدا

إِن كانَ أَهلَكَ حُبٌّ قَبلَهُ أحَدا

There is no doubt that what afflicts me will kill me,

No doubt he who is within me will kill me,

if love has ever killed anyone before this.

If love has ever destroyed anyone before.

أَحبَبتُها فَوَتَغتُ الناسَ كُلَّهُمُ

أَحبَبتُها فَوَتَغتُ الناسَ كُلَّهُمُ

يا رَبِّ لا تَشفني مِن حُبِّها أَبَدا

يا رَبِّ لا تَشفني مِن حُبِّها أَبَدا

I loved her, and so brought ruin upon everyone.

I loved her and so I avoided all other people,

O my Lord, never cure me of my love for her.

Oh Lord, never cure me of my love for her.

لَو قاسَ عُروَةُ والنَهديُّ وَجدَهُما

لَو قاسَ عُروَةُ والنَهديُّ وَجدَهُما

لَكانَ وَجدي بِسُعدى فَوقَ ما وَجَدا

لَكانَ وَجدي بِسُعدى فَوقَ ما وَجَدا

If ʿUrwah and al-Nahdī measured their longing,

If Urwa and Nahdi tried my passion,

my longing for Suʿdā would surpass what they both felt.

They would find my passion for Sauda greater than theirs.
