سَقياًa blessing of rain لِرَبعِكِfor your dwelling مِنwhat a رَبعٍdwelling بِذِيat Dhū سَلَمSalam
سَقياً لِرَبعِكِ مِن رَبعٍ بِذِي سَلَم
وَلِلزَّمانِand for the time بِهِin it إِذwhen ذاكَthat مِنwhat a زَمَنِtime
وَلِلزَّمانِ بِهِ إِذ ذاكَ مِن زَمَنِ
May rain bless your dwelling at Dhū Salam—what a dwelling!
And the time there then—what a time!
إِذwhen أَنتِyou (feminine) فيناamong us لِمَنto whoever يَنهاكِforbids you عاصِيَةٌdisobedient
إِذ أَنتِ فينا لِمَن يَنهاكِ عاصِيَةٌ
وَإِذand when أَجُرُّI drag إِلَيكُمtoward you all سادِراًheedless رَسَنيmy halter
وَإِذ أَجُرُّ إِلَيكُم سادِراً رَسَني
When you were among us, defying whoever forbade you,
And when I dragged my halter toward you, heedless.
