شَنِئتُ العقرَ عَقرَ بَني شَليل

شَنِئتُ العقرَ عَقرَ بَني شَليل

إِذا هَبَّت لِقارِئِها الرِّياحُ

إِذا هَبَّت لِقارِئِها الرِّياحُ

I loathed al-ʿAqr, the ʿAqr of Banū Shalīl,

I cursed misfortune, the misfortune of the tribe of Shalil,

When the winds blew toward its reader.

When the winds blew for the one who recited it.
