وَقالَand he said أَئتَمِنّاtrust us نَرعَwe will guard سِرَّكَyour secret كُلَّهُall of it
وَقالَ أَئتَمِنّا نَرعَ سِرَّكَ كُلَّهُ
وَماand not أَحَدٌanyone عِنديin my view لَهُwith it بِأَمينِtrustworthy
وَما أَحَدٌ عِندي لَهُ بِأَمينِ
And he said, “Trust us—we will guard your secret, every bit of it.”
And he said, “Trust us; we will guard your whole secret.”
Yet in my eyes, no one can be trusted with it.
Yet no one, in my eyes, is trustworthy with it.
يُرِيدونَthey seek سِرّاًa secret مُضمَراًhidden قَدalready أَكَنَّهُhas concealed it
يُرِيدونَ سِرّاً مُضمَراً قَد أَكَنَّهُ
فُؤَادِيmy heart وَبَعضُand some of السِرِّthe secret غَيرُnot كَنينِconcealed
فُؤَادِي وَبَعضُ السِرِّ غَيرُ كَنينِ
They want a closely guarded secret that my heart has concealed—
They seek a hidden secret, already concealed
though some secrets do not remain hidden.
By my heart—and some secrets are not concealed.
