وَالشَيبُand gray hair يَأمُرُenjoins بِالعَفافِchastity وَبِالتُّقىand piety
وَالشَيبُ يَأمُرُ بِالعَفافِ وَبِالتُّقى
وَإِلَيهِand to it يَأويtakes refuge العَقلُreason حينَwhen يَؤُولُreturns
وَإِلَيهِ يَأوي العَقلُ حينَ يَؤُولُ
And gray hair enjoins chastity and piety.
And in it reason takes refuge when it returns.
فَإِنِso if استَطَعتَyou can فَخُذthen take بِشَيبِكَthrough your gray hair فَضلَةًan advantage
فَإِنِ استَطَعتَ فَخُذ بِشَيبِكَ فَضلَةً
إِنَّindeed العُقولَminds يُرىis seen لَهاfor them تَفضيلُdistinction
إِنَّ العُقولَ يُرى لَها تَفضيلُ
So, if you can, gain an advantage through your gray hair.
Indeed, minds are seen to possess distinction.
