تَنَكَّرَ لي دَهْري وَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَنَّنِي

تَنَكَّرَ لي دَهْري وَلَمْ يَدْرِ أَنَّنِي

أَعِزُّ وَأَحْداثُ الزَّمانِ تَهُونُ

أَعِزُّ وَأَحْداثُ الزَّمانِ تَهُونُ

My time turned against me, not knowing that I

My fortunes disowned me but they did not know

stand strong while the calamities of time grow insignificant.

That I am too proud for the days' blows to stun

فَظَلَّ يُريني الخَطْبَ كَيْفَ اعْتداؤهُ

فَظَلَّ يُريني الخَطْبَ كَيْفَ اعْتداؤهُ

وَبِتُّ أُرِيهِ الصَّبْرَ كَيْفَ يَكونُ

وَبِتُّ أُرِيهِ الصَّبْرَ كَيْفَ يَكونُ

So it kept showing me how calamity strikes,

So they showed me their worst to break my composure

and I spent the night showing it what patience is.

While I showed them patience to see what I'd become
