بِغَيضٌhateful إِليَّto me العاذِلُthe reprover المُتَخَرِّصُthe fabricator of falsehoods
Leave off blame, O son of the Hashimite woman—for I
Leave off reproach, O son of the Hashimite woman; indeed, I
find hateful the faultfinder who fabricates accusations.
find the reprover who invents falsehoods hateful.
فَلِلْبانَةِso, for the bān tree الغَنَّاءِthe lush ظِلٌّa shade أَلفتُهُI have grown attached to it

For the luxuriant bāna tree has a shade I have grown accustomed to,
For the lush bān tree has a shade I have grown attached to;
one that neither draws away from me nor shrinks.
so it neither recedes from me nor shrinks.
وَيَنمَىand grows هَواهاlove for it ثُمَّthen يَزدادُincreases جِدَّةًfreshness

My love for it grows, then gains still greater freshness,
And my love for it grows, then grows ever fresher,
while every passion, O Sa‘d, wears away and wanes.
while every love, O Saʿd, wears out and dwindles.
