تَنوشُ ذوائِبَ الحَسَبِ التَّليدِ
Cling, my dear brother, to noble deeds
Cling, my brother, to honored deeds,
That reach the pinnacles of ancestral honor.
Sip the nectars of noble ancestry.
فَنَحْنُfor we نَحِلُّwe settle in أَنْدِيَةًassemblies إِلَيْهاtoward them

ثَنى النَّعْماءُ طَرْفَ ألمُسْتَفيدِ
For we take our places in assemblies toward which
For we set up fellowships leading to them,
Bounty has turned the beneficiary's gaze.
While the glance of favor smiles on the beneficiary.

وَنَرْفُلُ في سَرابِيلِ الحَديدِ
And we wield spears made straight,
And we wield well-burnished lances,
And we stride proudly in tunics of iron.
And parade in suits of mail.
وَقَدْand indeed كُناwe were المُلوكَkings علىover البَرَاياhumankind
وَقَدْ كُنا المُلوكَ على البَرَايا

نُشَيِّدُ ما بَناهُ أَبو يَزيدِ
And we were once kings over humankind,
Once we were kings in the wilds,
Raising high what Abu Yazid had built.
Singing what Abu Yazid had built.

Then time contended with us for the mantle of glory,
But time has tugged at the cloak of honor,
Revealing free men in the guise of slaves.
Disgracing the freeborn with the guise of slaves.
