And a dark-eyed, slender one, whose coquetry is adored,
And I converse with the darling of my heart's desire, fanned by the breeze,
Turns a gazelle’s eye toward the lovers.
Who turns to the lovers the batting of an eye languid and tender,

He captivated me with a cheek radiant as morning,
Captivating me with a cheek like the morning light, radiant and pure
And the curve of a sidelock, pitch-black as darkness.
And the curve of a temple dusky as the dark night, dim and obscure
