    And a broad-knuckled Nashiri,

His is exalted honor among Khindif.

In his hand a keen sword converses with glory,

Finely wrought, with edges that spew blood.

And his neighbor dwells, though the horizon is dim,

    Where spring unfastens its knee-wrap.

    I urged toward him a swift, easy-paced she-camel,

Wary lest the whip should fall upon it.

When she lays her chest down beside him,

Then may no gore cover her hoof-tips.
