Your swords have become keys to fortresses,
Your swords have become keys to fortresses
Slaying the deceitful and gladdening the sincere adviser.
You attack the deceitful and make the advisor happy

And you who narrow the open land with a massive host,
And the narrow land became spacious
Like the sea, blocking plains and gravelly valleys.
As an ocean, blocking plains and dunes

بالرأي تحسبه الشهاب اللائحا
You upheld the rule of Hashim, O its sun,
The Hashimite state supported you, O its sun
With counsel one would take for a gleaming meteor.
With opinion you count it the shining shooting star

And with spears you went forth, thrusting in its defense,
And you attacked it with spears
And with your spear you frightened al-Simak the Spear-bearer.
And hid with the spear the thick spear bearer

And your father did not unsheathe white swords
And held the upper hand without then granting pardon.
Unless you were thereafter the reconciler

Pillars of patience that remained swinging
And seas of knowledge, forever overflowing.
And oceans of knowledge that kept overflowing

You lavished rich gifts of bounty on petitioners,
I hoped for the generosity of the exalted from God
In generosity, and brought far-off hope near.
Generously and approached the fleeing hope

O beauty of the brutish time, you have exalted
By the seats of honor, in you, a face most radiant and clear.
The lowly with a more beautiful and glowing face

You calmed my hopes though frothing
Withered; and you tamed the unruly steed of my praise.
And were pleased with my passionate praise

And you turned misfortunes away from me, so I never met
And turned worldly tribulations from me so I never found
On any day, a crushing calamity from time's reversals.
A day when the turns of fate were greatly detrimental

And I tasted from your hands, O my satisfier
A wafting fragrance of kindness and benevolence.
For gentleness and kindness, a widely known gentleness

Who surpassed mankind in generosity and so became the winner

The glory of religion surrendered to you defeating the envious
And vexing the treacherous and rubbing the spiteful foe's nose in dust.
And making the insolent concede and silencing the dissenter
