خَليلي بَل أَجَلُّ فَأَنتَ عِندي
مِنَamong الساداتِthe lords لَستَyou are not مِنَamong الصِّحابِthe companions
مِنَ الساداتِ لَستَ مِنَ الصِّحابِ
My dear friend—no, more exalted still—for to me you are
My friend, indeed you are more noble to me
One of the lords, not one of the companions.
Than lords; you are no mere companion.

A call I send to no one
When I call out it is not to another
Other than you, and so I hope for a truthful reply.
I hope for an answer true.
