Good fortune lies within the valor of the brave,

And victory is the harvest of an Indian-steel sword and a spearpoint.

And rule is held inviolate, guarded by

Gleaming sword edges and the care of the All-Merciful,

And of an aided man from Qays ʿAylān, whose people

Are a garden for the fruit-gatherer and a refuge for the wrongdoer.

A king who built his eminence with keen-edged swords—

Will the days, then, demolish what he builds?

    The supreme lord, Sulaymān al-Riḍā,

Grandson of Imam al-Murtaḍā—and that is enough for me.

A king—when kings step forward for glory,

Then his sandals rise above crowns.

They kindle the fires of battle, so you imagine them

The loftiest hills in the depths of the lowlands.

And you see swords as streams that destroy

Gleaming coats of mail, themselves like pools.

So rise with God's support and His aid,

Your banners victorious, your stature exalted,

And your command obeyed—if you tell the star to halt

Its stoning, it will leave Satan alone.
